God, you’ve seen my tears but today is different

Lord, I give thanks to you because I know that you are good. Even when bad things happen, your goodness doesn’t change and I praise you for that. Thank you for loving me with a love that never fails and endures forever. May my heart receive your love and absorb it so that it spills over to others.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1
One day God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4

When the day seems too much
and even the moment seems overwhelming,
God sees your heart.
He knows when you are aching.
He knows when pain has snatched your breath.
Let him be your oxygen.
For it is in him
that you live and move
and have your very being.

God, you’ve seen my tears but today is different. I bring them before you and like a little child, instead of only crying, I am crying out to you. Lord, I want to stop the wandering in this departed place. I need clarity and direction from you. In the hard place of hurt, heal me, Lord.
“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.” Psalm. 107:6

Sometimes the very bravest of the brave do only one thing- they breathe. For in him, we live and move and have our being.

Lord, help me remember what you’ve done for me. You’ve redeemed me and brought me near to your heart. My story is in progress. You have not written the final chapter and your hand is still moving across the pages of my life. Fill me with anticipation or the ink to be penned in the chapters ahead. Help me see beyond this chapter. Amen.

God, be gracious to me and bless me. Let the light of Your face shine on me, that I would be a clear reflection of You. Let Your ways be known on the earth. Show Your saving grace throughout the earth. May my life, my family, and my community bring praise to You. May people everywhere praise You, Lord, and recognize who You are. Let the song of joy begin in my heart, for You are just and true. May the song spread to others around me, bringing You praise. I recognize that everything I have comes from You; may every blessing be known as a gift from You that others would see You. Amen

You don’t have to carry your burden alone. Jesus has enough strength for you and him both.

Psalm 107:1

Lord, move me from hurting to healing. If this is your prayer, don’t miss Day 1 on 8/1 as we begin the new monthly Bible reading challenge, Restore Me: From Hurting to Healing.

Dear Father,
I’m coming to You today as a tiny child.
One who too often tries to hold all of life alone.
The burden is too large to bear.
My frail shoulders weaken with the weight
And my heart grows anxious.
You said we would have trouble in this world.
But You also said: Take heart;
I have overcome the world.
Would you help me remember that You are the Overcomer
though I am the overwhelmed?
Would you give me the grace
to accept my own limitations
And the faith to accept your unlimited power?
Would you reveal your incredible love once again
that I might soak up its glory?
For it is when your love and power and glory
saturate my spirit
that I am revolutionized
from overwhelmed
to overjoyed.
Amen

Lord, I give myself to you today. Renew and restore my mind and gift me with discernment for today’s daily choices. God’s will is good, pleasing, and perfect according to Romans 12:1&2, help me rest in it.

Lord, I need You to listen to my words. I need You to consider my sorrow and answer my cry for help, for it is to You alone I pray. I know You hear my voice and this morning, I lay my requests before You. I know You will answer them and I wait in expectation. I know that You are not pleased with sin and pride cannot stand in Your presence. You hate sin, but You love sinners. Thank You for loving me and thank You for the privilege of entering into Your presence through Your great love. Lead me in Your way; don't let the enemy trip me up through evil influences, I leave the evil to Your discretion and take refuge in You. Fill my heart with gladness and let me sing for joy.

Whatever life storm you are experiencing right now, God is with you. He has the power to still the waves and winds with only a whisper. “They we’re glad when it grew calm and he guided them to their desired haven.” Psalm 107:30

He will guide you too. Lord, I cry to you; bring me out of distress.

Lord, forgive me. A simple prayer that can launch astounding results of peace and rest. When our hearts are aligned with obeying God, then he takes care of the rest! “Whoever listens to me (wisdom) will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Proverbs 1:35

I’m still reading A Praying Life and am convicted today of failing to ask. Perhaps the conviction stems from the blowing and tossing of the wind. “You have not because you ask not.”

Dear Father,
Thank you for being
The Almighty God who holds the entire world
And yet cradles my heart.
Today I humbly recognize the need
for your guidance.
How I crave your presence to lead me.
Without your light to shine down,
The path is dim and unclear.
Without your voice to order my steps,
The journey is confusing and obscure.
Show me the movements to mirror your will.
Reveal the master blueprint as only you can;
So that I may boast in your glory and your plan.
Amen.

Lord Jesus,
I praise you for the gift of another day,
For your mercies new each morning.
My eyes are open and my heart is beating;
Each of those means you have a plan for me.
This minute. This hour. This day.
I don’t know every step of your plan for today,
But I know it will be for my good.
And I’m confident it will be for your glory.
Will you lead me, Jesus? I need you.
Will you order my steps, each one?
May your love flow through me
,And may I embrace every opportunity
To share your love with others.
Amen

Lord, still my heart. Help me see that You are God. Show me your greatness through the stillness.

Dear Father,
Words refuse to escape my lips today
and I cannot find them.
Not only do they stall before reaching my tongue,
Those same words float around in my mind,
Failing to make complete sentences.
Failing to join together in expressive thoughts.
Failing to unite my emotions and intellect.
Oh, the agony of a soul at a loss for words.
Yet as Creator of the universe, You have provided.
For when humanity grips my spirit
with unbelievable strength,
And when defeat nags my mind
with unbearable vigor,
The Holy Spirit intercedes for me
With groaning too deep for words.
You, the God who knows all,
intimately knows my heart.
Thank you, Father.
Amen

Lord, help me invest my time in places that will see growth. Give me energy to do good things for your glory. We only have so much time; let’s make it a wise investment today!
